How to tell it apart
Not to be confused with: Scalloped hammerhead
The scalloped hammerhead's head is arched, with a scalloped front edge, and its first dorsal is lower. The great hammerhead's head is nearly straight, and its first dorsal is very tall and sickle-shaped.
